Dedicating the majority of his professional life to International Third Party Ship Management companies, Captain Sharma’s shore experience encompasses Marine HR handling of diverse vessels, including LPG, Parcel Chemical, Petrochemical, VLCC, LNG, Crude & Product Tankers, and all types of Dry tonnage.
From 2019 to 2022, Captain Sharma achieved a remarkable feat by successfully establishing and managing a ship management company from scratch. His technical oversight extended to eight tanker vessels, including VLCC, MR, LR1, and Aframax tankers, with operations spanning the Company’s offices in Singapore and Dubai.
In his decade-long leadership roles, Captain Sharma has played a pivotal role in overseeing the Company’s interests in India, managing legal, strategic, and operational responsibilities. As a key member of the Senior Management team and Board, he actively contributed to various aspects of ship management, including global manning services. His responsibilities covered performance improvements, change management initiatives, strengthening internal and external control systems, nurturing relationships, and fostering collaborative associations.
Captain Sharma’s previous role was with Wallem India, where he served as Director – MHR Operations from June 2014. His focus was on enhancing value by continuously improving the gamut of Manning Services Business and optimizing the cost structure of the overall Support & Services portfolio to achieve the company’s profitability objectives.
Beyond his extensive maritime experience, Captain Sharma has honed his leadership skills through executive management training at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, among others.
